Teen Programs/News

Teens (ages 13+ or entering grade 8) can make a difference this summer by volunteering as Program Buddies! Choose from Book Buddies (Tuesdays), Art Buddies (Wednesdays, prior experience required), or Game Buddies (Thursdays) to read, create, or play games with younger kids. Click on the applications below to sign up!

Book Buddies – Book Buddies pairs teen volunteers (ages 13+) with children (ages 4-7) to share a love of reading while supporting early literacy skills. Volunteers will read with children, sing camp songs, and lead a fun activity. Book Buddies meets weekly on Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 PM and/or 5:00 – 7:00 PM during the summer (June 30 – July 28).
Orientation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, from 1:30-3:30 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM (you only need to come to one).

 Art Buddies – Teen volunteers (ages 13+) work with children on simple yet creative projects to build skills and encourage artistic expression. Art Buddies meets weekly on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 4:00 PM during the summer (July 1 – August 12). To be an Art Buddy, you must have previously participated in either Book Buddies or Art Buddies.
Orientation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

 Game Buddies – Teen volunteers (ages 13+) engage children in a variety of games to promote social interaction and problem=solving skills. Game Buddies meets weekly on Thursdays from 1:00 – 4:00 PM during the summer (July 2 – August 13).
Orientation will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 1:00 – 4:00.

Read this as part of the 2022 High School Nutmeg list. Not really my type of book but the artwork was beautiful and I could see this being a very popular title this year.
