Get or Renew a Library Card
All residents of Canton are entitled to receive a Canton Public Library card. Your card is the ticket to using all of our library services and also allows you to borrow materials not just from Canton, but from any public library in the State of Connecticut.
Getting a library card is easy – just visit our circulation desk to get started. You will need to provide proof of identity and proof of Canton residency. Acceptable items to prove residency include a driver’s license; cable, utility, or phone bill; or bank statement showing your current address.
Periodically, we will ask you to renew your card. Just bring your card and ID to the circulation desk- it only takes a moment.
Children are eligible to receive their own library cards; their parents will need to provide their own proof of residency and assume responsibility for items checked out on their children’s cards.
If you live in another town and wish to check out materials from our library, you will need to obtain a library card from your hometown library, but you are then able to use it here. Please note that some online resources are available only for Canton Public Library cardholders.
