For the past several years, the entries into our area-wide Teen Photography Contest have been mounted in the library gallery space each November. The contest was open to Farmington Valley middle and high school students in Grades 7-12. Submitted images fall into one of six categories: Portrait, Landscape/Nature, Animals, Abstract/Design, Manmade, and Digitally Enhanced. During regular library hours, you can view beautiful fall scenes, striking images of roosters, dogs, birds; arresting sunsets; intricate details of plant material or architectural structure, and more.
Judging of the teen contest by our panel of local photographers and artists takes place now.
Winners of each contest category will be announced at the free opening reception and awards ceremony at the library on Wednesday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 7. All are welcome. Come and support our young photographic talent!
The exhibit — free to view— is on display from now through November 30th. Canton Public Library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue in Canton.
Inclement weather policy: If Canton schools or afterschool activities are cancelled for weather-related reasons, so too are events for teens and children at the Canton Public Library. The library is often still open, please contact us with questions or concerns at 860.693.5800.
