Russell Library Veterans Writing Group – Cancelled

April 12, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

In the second of our two programs in observance of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, the Canton Public Library welcomes the Russell Library (Middletown, CT) Veterans Writing Group via Zoom, on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 PM.

This group of Veterans has been meeting and writing their stories of incredible wartime experiences for more than seven years. The men and women from all branches of service will tell stories and answer questions about their time in service. A book of their stories will be published by En Route Publishing in 2022.

The group is led by Christy Billings of Russell Library and Liz Petry, local author. Liz lives in Middletown with her husband, Lawrence Riley who is a dog trainer. Through the Veterans Administration, he is training pound and shelter dogs to be companion dogs for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and other ailments that often lead to isolation. Larry is also the past commander of the Veterans of the Vietnam War, and past commander of American Legion Post 75.

To register, email kbunn@townofcantonct.org.  The Zoom login will be emailed to you just prior to the April 12 program.
