KCC Cultural Humility & Anti-Racism Series – (Re)building and Connecting Communities: Incorporating Cultural Humility in the Land of Steady Habits

February 25, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Canton Public Library is proud to partner with Kamora’s Cultural Corner  and S.E.E. (Solidarity-Education-Education) for a three-part online series on cultural humility and anti-racism.  The series will take place on Thursdays, February 11, 18, and 25, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Kamora’s Cultural Corner provides both a metaphoric and physical space and will explore cultural humility through a Black Queer and Afrocentric perspective.  They create and navigate Brave Spaces with the intention of building and supporting organic community connections.  Their mission is to bring together students, parents, educators, and community members in solidarity to strive for equity in K-12 curriculum.

Founded in the summer of 2020 by Cailyn Carr and Felicia Jordan, S.E.E. CT has grown into a dedicated group of activists, parents and community organizers working together to promote a racially inclusive curriculum starting in Kindergarten (K-12). We will also work with our district administrators to ensure that students and families receive other training and supports needed to address social emotional issues that arise around race as well as other factors that affect race in schools.
