What’s bugging you?
I hope it’s not the creeping, crawling, climbing, flying critters we’ll be featuring this week when we explore the fascinating world of insects and arachnids.
This is Creepy Crawly week, and we’ll get up close and personal with some amazing insects and arachnids.

Meet Felix, a flea who wants to join the circus in The Smallest Show on Earth.
Then we’ll make climbing spiders from popsicle sticks and string.
Our author is the amazing Candace Fleming with her Sibert Medal winning book Honeybee, the life of Apis Melifera and Cubs in the Tub.
And we’ll make a Bug Bite recipe that you’ll want to bite back.
Finally, we have storyteller extraordinaire, Bobby Norfolk who will tell us the tail of Anansi the Spider and the Dancing Granny.
We hope you enjoy this week’s videos from Page Turner Adventures and Canton Public Library. And remember, when You Read Every Day is an Adventure!

SHOW: The Smallest Show on Earth
Felix the Flea wants to join a Flea Circus. But when his emotions get the best of him, Page and Kenny decide to put on an actual circus to show him the ropes. They’re joined by some special guests including a real jumping spider, the owner and star of Circus Kirkus, and Jonathan Lee Iverson…Ringling Bros. and Barnum Baily’s last Ringmaster (really!).

CRAFT DAY: Climbing Spider Craft
Grab some popsicle sticks, masking tape, and yarn to create a spider that can climb up any waterspout.

AUTHOR DAY: Candace Fleming
Candace Fleming is the acclaimed author of more than forty books for children and young adults, including this year’s Sibert Medal Award Winning Book Honeybee: The Busy Life of Apis Mellifera. We’ll also chat about her book Cubs in the Tub.

Norfolk is a three-time Emmy Award winner, multiple Parents’ Choice Gold and Silver Award winner, and a National Storytelling Network Oracle Award recipient. Bobby will thrill us with tales of that famous trickster, Anansi.
