Members of the Canton Greater Together Community Fund Committee will hold a virtual information session to review the request for proposals and grant application and answer questions from potential applicants.
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established a $100,000 community fund in Canton, and the first round of funding opens on Feb. 15. Nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for grants in the amount of $500 to $10,000. Newly formed nonprofits are welcome to apply under the umbrella of an established 510(c)(3) nonprofit organization as their fiscal agent. Applicants can request funding for 100% of the cost of a program or any portion of the needed funds.
The funds are available to fulfill unmet needs, and the committee hopes to reach as diverse an array of ages, interests and needs as possible. Each town’s community fund is being handled by an advisory committee of town residents that is inclusive, representative and reflective of Canton’s residents, and they will review the applications and decide how their community funds will be used.
