Join our student level book club, “Hooked on Books.” It’s an online book club for readers and thinkers from grades 4 and up.
Librarian Sarah Prattson, with the group’s help, will choose a new book each month. The group gets together on Zoom to discuss that book on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Sign up for zoom codes and more info.
We are choosing books that can be read (or listened to) from a library print copy OR using Hoopla, our free downloadable readers app.
This month’s book is Jacqueline Woodson’s Harbor Me.
“Every Friday, narrator Haley and her classmates sit in a circle during the last hour of school to talk about whatever they want without their teacher. While grappling with immigration, racism, incarceration, and loss, they also explore identity, community, change, and forgiveness. Woodson’s craft as a weaver of words and imagery is evident throughout this timely tribute to the resilience of young people and the power of human connection.” (Hornbook)
Read the book first, then join Ms. Sarah online for an hour to discuss it. The group will decide what other activities they want to add!
