Celebrate our Million Page Reading Challenge with us on Saturday, September 17 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. (raindate of September 18).
We invite everyone to help us celebrate Our Million Page Reading Challenge success! Our town of ten thousand reached 1,000,000 pages read and logged on August 12! We look forward to seeing just how many pages the town will log by Labor Day.
The KC Sisters, a local music sensation, will be our special guests. They will be providing live music outside on the back lawn. The five sisters have “music in their DNA” – aside from their harmony of a cappella voices, each girl plays multiple instruments including piano, guitar, violin, bass, cello, ukulele, and drums. Expect a mix of covers and originals!
We’ll start the festivities with a Storybook Float Parade, where anyone who participated in our summer programs can march wearing their Challenge T-shirts or we invite you to create your own book character costumes and/or wagon-style floats.
Find out how much money we have raised towards to Canton Food Bank. And it’s not too late to contribute! Just send a check to the Friends of Canton Library. Drop your contribution at the library or mail it to mail to FCPL, P.O. Box 136, Canton, CT 06019. Remember to note in the memo that it is for the Million Page Challenge.
We’ll be providing light refreshments for everyone.
Expect a lot of fun for the kids and grownups alike, including-
- large town vehicles to check out
- an antique car or two
- sidewalk chalk creations
- an ongoing scavenger hunt
- visiting therapy dogs
- lawn games and more!
Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets, and expect to park across the street.
