Art Display of “Young Artists’ Vision of 2020”

Art in Action

Thanks to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the show, Art in Action: Young Artist’s Vision of 2020, will be available to view in Canton Public Library during regular library hours from now through July 28. A free, special reception will be held on July 13 at 5 p.m. to meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. The library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue in Canton.

Last fall, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving invited young artists (ages 13 to 19) who live in the Foundation’s 29 town region to submit creative work that reflects the energy and emotions of the current time of pandemic and protest. These works included an array of art forms including paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculptures, poems, prose, music, and videos. The Foundation was pleased to receive contributions from more than three dozen local teens. Included are students from Canton’s Focus Center for Autism/Fresh Start School.

In spring 2021, the Foundation approved four grants to bring the visual art exhibit to gallery spaces in West Hartford, Canton, Manchester, and Hartford. The music and video contributions may be accessed on the Foundation’s website here.
